Administrative checklist

1. Reserve company name.

2. Decide state of organization. Will this be a New Jersey, Delaware, New York, Nevada organization?

3. Decide on form of organization. Suggest LLC which can be modeled as either a corporation or partnership when the entity has more than one member. Suggest LLC form because it is much more flexible than a corporation or partnership, yet still protects personal assets.

4. Reserve desire URLs. Some suggestions are: OlympicLifting.com, OlympicWeightlifting.com, GoForTheGoldWeightlifting.com, GoForGoldWeightlifting.com, OlympiaWeightlifting.com, OlympiadWeightlifting.com. Note: weightlifting.com is just a landing page with other links and is probably available at a price. My guess is someone previously owned it and let it spire.

Ideas for an Olympic weightlifting site

Ideas for an Olympic weightlifting site:

1. 1. The site should contain:

A. Weightlifting gear sales:

1. equipment,

2. clothing,

3. supplies,

4. food supplements/nutrition,

5. Books, tapes, CDs and DVDs.

B. Weightlifting competition/event professional photography and photographs for purchase .

C. News and current events regarding Olympic weightlifting and US weightlifting events that are a prelude to Olympic weightlifting.

D. Calendar of events.

E. Education/Tips and techniques.

2. Payment methods: people need a way to buy stuff online. Easiest way to do this is to accept PayPal. Action item: set up a commercial PayPal account with credit card option.\

1. 3. Giving incentives for people to register to site such as discounts.

3. 4. Make sure people have a reason to check it frequently -- such as news and information. The more compelling the information is, the more people will return and the more frequently they will buy. Determine why weightlifters want to come to this site on a regular basis.

preliminary information

I have done a little research into Olympic weightlifting sites for information as well as gear and equipment sales. It seems to me that there is much that could be done here. There is very little out there that addresses the competitive weightlifting community with an eye towards the ultimate weightlifting competition -- the Olympics.

I have started to assemble some basic ideas for a site which I will send you under separate cover. In the meantime, here's the kind of stuff you find:
http://www.muscledriverusa.com/Olympic-Weightlifting-Gear_c_461.html?gclid=CK3O_5rqi6oCFQHu7QodjEhA2g

And this is not particularly interesting stuff! It is basically online commerce. Boring.

I did find one interesting site:

http://www.atomicathletic.com/store/category.aspx?categoryID=176 . This site is interesting because it combines both products sales and weightlifting history and information. Although the format isn't great I think the content somewhat mirrors what you want to do.

Then I found of the site below which is obviously done out of a love of the sport, with no commercial intentions.

I personally believe that there is a your opportunities your -- a need which we can fill.
